This is a TRUE story and occurred in mid August 2008.  I stress despite the scary accident, Marty was totally unhurt - other than a few minor scratches from the shattered glass, and a headache! The full discussion with many more photos and commentary you will find here on www.stampboards.com : https://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?p=359300 I have lived here for about 20 years, and this is the first such accident I stress, despite countless hundreds of visitors – Marty among them for about 50 visits.    It was a freak thing - that I watched unfold in front of my eyes as I waved him goodbye, as he drove slowly down the driveway at 10 KPH.  If you paid a professional stunt man to replicate it, you simply could not duplicate this with 100 attempts. Marty standing by the car, smiling at this good luck.  Notice the 10 foot drop onto a concrete roadway (upside down) that would have occurred had not the car stopped exactly where it did.  No-one would have survived that. As it is all ferns in that area, why the car did not slide right off them onto the road is a major mystery, as car was spinning at that point, and the inertia of it was going right in that direction, and the roof of a car is like a large smooth toboggan. The tow truck operator who arrived to drag the vehicle down to the street and take it away, simply could not believe it had not slipped right over the side of the hill, as there was nothing whatever stopping it from doing so. Marty has nothing but praise for the insurers NRMA, who based on these photos, and a quick assessment of the wreck,  mailed him a cheque within a WEEK for the total insured value of the car - and he now is driving a brand new vehicle with the proceeds.
