| CTO | cancelled to order (usually from Post Office "specimen" packs) |
| GU | good used |
| W/C | well centered |
| CDS or c.d.s. | circular date stamp cancellation |
| SG | Stanley Gibbons catalogue number - usually "Part 1" British Commonwealth in £Stg. |
| SC or Scott | Scott Catalogue number, current edition, and price in U.S. dollars |
| Michel | Michel (German) Catalogue number, current edition, and prices in D.Marks |
| A.S.C. | Australian Stamp Catalogue (Seven Seas Stamps) current colour edition |
